Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 19, 2026
Thermal Buddy (“the App”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
1. Data Collection and Usage
Thermal Buddy is designed to keep your data private and local to your device.
User-Generated Data
The App allows you to create and manage the following types of data:
- Activity Types: Custom labels for your thermal logging activities.
- Gear Categories: Classifications for the equipment or items you are monitoring.
- Scene Customization: Personalized settings and descriptions for different logging environments.
This data is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, synced via your private iCloud account. We do not have access to this data.
Analytics
Thermal Buddy uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymised usage signals (for example: onboarding steps completed, paywall shown, subscription started). TelemetryDeck is designed to be privacy-first: all identifiers are double-hashed on your device before any data leaves it, making it impossible to reconstruct your identity from the signals we receive. We receive no personal data, no device fingerprint, no location, and no content from your logs. No consent prompt or ATT authorisation is required because no personal data is transmitted. For more details see the TelemetryDeck privacy policy.
Thermal Buddy does not collect crash reports.
2. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage
Thermal Buddy does not use generative AI or automated decision-making processes that process your personal data. All data organization and logging are performed based on direct user input.
3. Third-Party Services
- iCloud: If you use iCloud Sync, your data is stored on Apple’s servers subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- TelemetryDeck: Receives anonymised, double-hashed usage signals as described in §1 above. No personal data is shared. See the TelemetryDeck privacy policy.
- RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscriptions and purchase validation. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat processes your App Store transaction data (subscription status, purchase date, product ID) to verify and manage your entitlement. No log data or personal information from the App is shared with RevenueCat. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.
- GitHub: If you submit a bug report via GitHub, any information you provide in the issue will be public on the GitHub platform.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
- Retention: Your data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud storage for as long as you choose to keep the App installed or maintain your iCloud backups. We do not store your data on our own servers.
- Deletion: You can delete your data at any time by:
- Deleting individual logs within the App.
- Deleting the App from your device.
- Managing and deleting the App’s data via your iOS iCloud settings (Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > Manage Account Storage).
5. Compliance
This policy is designed to comply with the 2026 App Store Review Guidelines regarding data transparency and user privacy.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us via the GitHub Issues page.
